We implemented some upgrades in the Search Tool to make information on Open Access publishing even more easy to find. Additionally, we want to share the latest major milestone for DORA with you.

Several of Lib4RI’s Open Access (OA) agreements will expire by the end of 2024. Negotiations for new agreements are ongoing but it is uncertain if subsequent agreements will be reached.

Lib4RI is offering a trial of scite.ai until December 21, 2024. This tool assists researchers in searching literature and evaluating scientific articles, which provide context about how publications are referenced in other works. The platform analyzes citation patterns to indicate whether citing papers offer supporting or contrasting evidence.

Test Scopus AI with us! Lib4RI offers trial access until the end of this year. From your search query in natural language, Scopus AI generates topic summaries and expanded summaries, produces a concept map and lists topic experts with reference to publications held in Scopus (currently back to 2013). Proposing follow-up questions it allows to delve even deeper into the subject.

The umbrella organisation of the Swiss universities (swissuniversities) and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) have recently updated the Swiss National Open Access Strategy.

Lib4RI has expanded its Open Access publishing portfolio by entering into a new transformative Read and Publish agreement with the American Physical Society (APS). Starting in April, corresponding authors affiliated with the 4RIs no longer have to pay a fee for publishing Open Access in the APS hybrid journals.

The negotiations between swissuniversities and Elsevier for a new Read & Publish agreement are continuing. A decision is expected in the next few weeks.

A new national license agreement has been reached with Taylor & Francis, ensuring continued access to their journal portfolio and enabling Open Access (OA) publishing for researchers affiliated with the 4RIs.

As a service to our researchers, we reviewed publications in the institutional repository DORA which are published in journals that have an impact factor, but are not indexed in Web of Science. A total of 166 published articles were missing and are now reported for addition in Web of Science.

We are delighted to announce the new library subscriptions and Read & Publish agreements for the year 2024. As in previous years, our decision-making process was guided by an extensive data analysis to ensure we provide access to the most essential resources. However, due to budget constraints impacting the four research institutes, we had to raise the bar higher than before, resulting in more cancellations than usual.
