  • Our newsletter contains important information about changes to our library resources and services, upcoming events and trainings as well as general topics surrounding research libraries and academic publishing. The newsletter is regularly sent to all employees at Eawag, Empa, PSI and WSL. Therefore, we obtain the email addresses of all employees at the four research institutes with the ETH Domain from the respective institutional SAP databases through the DORA portal (see DORA Data Protection Policy.

    Anyone else can subscribe to our newsletter via the subscription form, which can also be used to re-subscribe after unsubscription. The processing of the email address entered in the subscription form takes place exclusively based on your consent via a confirmation link sent by email.

    Based on Article 13 of the Swiss Federal Constitution and the provisions of Swiss Data Protection Law, all persons have a right to the protection of their private sphere and protection from misuse of their personal data. We are committed to protecting your privacy. Personal data is handled in accordance with the requirements of the Swiss Data Protection Law and, where applicable, with EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). The processing of personal data is limited to data that is required to dispatch our newsletters and for the information of our users. You have the right to request information about any of your personal data we process. In particular, you have the right to request information about the purpose of the processing, the categories of personal data, the categories of recipients who will have access or were disclosed with your data or the duration periods for saving the personal data. You also have the right to request adjustments or erasure of your data.

    Lib4RI undertakes technical and organizational security measures to ensure that any personal data it collects and processes remain confidential and are safeguarded from accidental or unauthorized access, changes or disclosure, loss, and destruction; moreover, only the persons who require access to personal data due to their job and work-related duties are granted access on a need-to-know basis.

    We only use your data internally and do not disclose it to third parties, with one exception: we use a service provider (MailXpert GmbH). MailXpert processes the data in secure data centres located in Switzerland according to the MailXpert Data Protection Regulations. Your data will be stored by MailXpert until you unsubscribe from the newsletter.

    You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time. An unsubscribe link is included at the end of every newsletter. Upon unsubscription, your consent for the storage, use and transfer of your data to MailXpert is revoked and your data will be permanently removed.

    We analyse the usage of our newsletter, i.e. click rate, reading time, unsubscription rate. All analyses are based on anonymized datasets. No evaluation of personal data takes place. This analysis is exclusively for optimizing the newsletter concerning usability and the provision of useful information.

    In some of our newsletters, you will also find links to websites of external providers. We disclaim any liability and responsibility for the content and design as well as for the collection of data on these web pages.
