The PSI Report (PSI Bericht in German) is a publication format available only to PSI researchers. Typically, PSI researchers use this format for content that needs to be published but for which other publication formats are not well suited (overview of all digital PSI Reports). Starting in May 2025, a PSI Report will only be published in a digital format.
For writing a PSI Report, we recommend using the template we provide below. This helps ensure that your PSI Report includes all relevant information in a clear and standardised format. The template combines the necessary bibliometric information with a design according to PSI corporate identity regulations. Feel free to contact us if you have questions regarding the template (@email).
To publish a manuscript as a PSI Report, you need to provide a signature from a PSI group leader or higher and follow the steps of registering a DOI via Lib4RI.
For the signature, download the application form provided below and send the signed form back to us. In parallel, visit the Get a DOI site and follow the 3-step process explained there. Please keep in mind that we need up to four workdays to register a DOI. Contact us early if you have any questions (@email).
More information
A PSI Report does not undergo external peer review. Instead, a PSI group leader, the head of a PSI section or a department leader checks - and confirms with their signature - that your PSI Report is in accordance with internationally accepted scientific standards.
A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is an internationally recognised identifier for objects. It allows to create a unique and persistent online link, helping to track research output long-term (see also our DOI info site). Lib4RI registers a DOI for every PSI Report and commits to ensure the persistence of the DOI-based URL of your PSI Report.
Lib4RI registers a DOI if certain conditions are met. In case of a PSI Report, some of these conditions are automatically met, and the remaining ones are met when you use the PSI Report template we provide above.
Creative Commons (CC) licences are among the most established licences to make your manuscript available to the public and allow everyone to read your research work. At the same time, CC licences ensure that you are attributed for your work and that using your manuscript follows the conditions you set.
Manuscripts that are published by one of the four research institutes are published with a CC BY licence. Check our Creative Commons Licenses site for more information, specifically about the advantages of the CC BY licence and the disadvantages of other licences (in particular, the non-commercial CC licences).
Lib4RI issues consecutive numbers for every new PSI Report. This number and the ISSN of the PSI Report series (3042-6391) allow the identification of each PSI Report according to bibliometric standards.
