Discover data

Finding and reusing existing research data can save you time and resources. Rather than starting from scratch, you can build on what's already done, test new hypotheses, or combine multiple datasets to answer new questions. By engaging with open data, you can tap into a wealth of resources that strengthen your research and expand what you can accomplish.

Library recommendation: We recommend utilising a domain/subject-specific data repository to search for data to reuse. Once you find a dataset you want to reuse, ensure that it has a license that allows for reuse.

Institutional data repositories

    • Empa does not have an institutional data repository, but recommends using a domain-specific repository for your field or Zenodo (as a generalist repository).
    • Materials Cloud is a domain-specific repository for Materials Sciences.
