Data Management Plans (DMPs)

Data management plans provide an opportunity for a researcher to think through their project's data requirements before data are collected to ensure the resources are in place to easily store data in a Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) way. As a cornerstone of reproducible science, DMPs are now often required by funding agencies and institutes before data are collected.

Library recommendation: We recommend consulting with the Lib4RI data management team or your institutional resources before and during the DMP development and to submit your DMP for review. DMP reviews can be requested from the Lib4RI data management team and from the institutional resources below. You can try the Lib4RI DMP template generator to start working on your DMP. This will allow you to create a DMP document fitting your needs (funder requirement; basic filter questions), with example answers.

Help us develop the DMP support: if you want to test out the DMP process using Data Stewardship Wizard, or help us create more detailed DMP examples for your department, please contact the Lib4RI data management team.
