Are you working on a paper, dissertation chapter or journal article? The Writing Lab is here to help you strengthen your writing, get feedback and build confidence. This three-part series can be taken as individual sessions or as a complete sequence, whichever fits your needs! Whether you are brand new to scientific writing or just need an accountability buddy to help you meet deadlines, we are here to help.
Learn how to critically read and analyse scientific papers to understand the structure, argumentation, and writing style. This session will help you become a more strategic and confident reader -- which will also help you become a more confident writer.
Tuesday, 9 December 14:00-14:45 (online)
After a short guided introduction, you'll have structured work time with tips, prompts and optional one-on-one support to help you make real progress on your draft. Bring a draft or just come with a clean sheet! This workshop is here to help you make progress and set aside some concrete time to get things done.
Tuesday, 13 January 14:00-15:30 (hybrid - in person at Eawag in Dübendorf)
Exchange a piece of your writing with a peer and receive constructive feedback in a guided review session. This workshop will start with a short introduction on how to give and receive effective feedback, then you and your partner will have time to review each other's work, and then we will have time to reflect.
NOTE: For this workshop, you are required to bring a draft section of your work (it does not have to be a polished product, but 1-2 pages of work that you would like some feedback on).
Tuesday, 10 February 14:00-16:00 (hybrid - in person at Eawag in Dübendorf)
