The publishing landscape is evolving, impacting how research is published and accessed. We are starting the year with important updates to our e-resources collections. While we are trialling new services and Open Access options, we are also facing temporary challenges with publisher agreements. Here is everything you need to know.
We entered 2026 without agreements with Springer Nature and Sage. Negotiations led by swissuniversities are ongoing, but have not yet concluded.
We support these efforts to secure fair agreements that serve the research community. However, this means we cannot currently offer Open Access publishing with these publishers, and we know this may affect your work. We will keep you informed as soon as there are updates.
For more information, see our previous news posts on Springer Nature and Sage. If you have questions, concerns, or need to explore alternative publishing options, please get in touch with us.
On a positive note, we have secured a new Open Access publishing option. Corresponding authors from Eawag, Empa, PSI, and WSL can now publish OA with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Visit our OA Agreements for detailed guidance on how to publish OA with ASCE, or use our Search tool to check if your target journal is included.
We have started a one-year trial of Consensus for 2026. Consensus is an AI-powered search engine designed to find and summarise answers from scientific research. Access is available via your institutional email. For more information, please see our previous news post.
We've been curating the collections, adding resources while making difficult decisions about what to discontinue. Here's what's changed:
You can find our journals and books via our Search Tool or browse Databases organised by topic or name. Your feedback helps our decisions on which resources to keep. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please reach out to us.
