Negotiations between the Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries and Sage Publishing for a new Read & Publish agreement for 2026–2028 have not yet concluded. As the current agreement ends on 31 December 2025, preparations are underway for a no-deal situation from 1 January 2026.
What a no-deal situation means for you:
- Open Access Publishing: In a no-contract scenario, articles accepted in Sage journals from 01 January 2026 onwards will no longer qualify for OA publishing under a national agreement. Open Access fees for publications in hybrid journals will not be covered by the library until a new agreement is in place. We therefore recommend choosing Green OA for publications in hybrid OA journals by depositing the accepted manuscript in the Lib4RI repository DORA. - Reading Access: There will be no reading access for articles published in Sage journals in 2026 and onwards until an agreement can be reached. If you cannot access a specific journal article, we would like to make you aware that articles can still be obtained via alternative routes (e.g., interlibrary loan).
