Full Access to the «IEEE Xplore Digital Library»

Rainer Rees

Starting on December 1st, Lib4RI users will have full access to the «IEEE Xplore Digital Library» again through the «IEEE/IET electronic library». Included are all IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology ) journals. Following the issues we had with IEEE in the past and the resulting reduction in our subscription to IEEE in 2015, IEEE made an offer with better conditions for 2016 that we accepted.

Unlimited access to additional content

The «IEEE/IET electronic library» is actually an improvement compared to the «IEEE digital library that Lib4RI had a subscription for until 2014. While the «IEEE digital library» offered access to the current year articles plus two years back, the «IEEE/IET electronic library» includes the archives of many journals back to 1872. Besides the journals also the conference proceedings and the IEEE standards are included. There is also no «file cabinet» anymore which was one of the reasons for the issues in the past with IEEE. The only «IEEE digital library» content which is not included in our subscription are the MIT press journals.

We would like to thank all of our users interested in IEEE publications for their patience in 2015. We would also like to thank the steering committee of the Lib4RI for their support and our document delivery team for their great effort to compensate the reduced IEEE offer in 2015.

We appreciate your feedback on the subscription change to IEEE on @email.
