Save the date for the Digital Clean-up Day 2026!

Lib4RI

Every year, on the third Saturday in March, it's time to declutter - not your closet, but your digital life! Digital Cleanup Day, happening this year on 21 March, is a global initiative that encourages everyone to tidy up their digital spaces in the name of sustainability. Lib4RI is participating again this year - join us and take a look at your digital waste!

In today’s world, we create enormous amounts of data daily - photos, emails, files, and more. Much of this data becomes obsolete within months, yet it continues to take up space on devices, servers, and the cloud. All of this requires energy to store and maintain, contributing to unnecessary CO₂ emissions and environmental impact.

Why participate?

By joining over 1 million people worldwide, you’ll not only reduce your personal digital footprint but also contribute to a global impact. Past cleanups have helped prevent an estimated 3,625 tons of CO₂ emissions annually - a powerful reminder of the difference small actions can make.

This year, we’re teaming up with Bibliosuisse’s Biblio2030 commission, supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals and promoting environmental awareness in libraries and beyond.

How to participate?

We are currently preparing our suggested actions for you. Stay tuned for updates! Meanwhile, you can have a look at the official website for some guides.
