Consortial funding for Diamond OA journals - apply now!

The CoDOA funding scheme supports established Diamond Open Access journals that contribute to a diverse and sustainable scholarly publishing landscape. The call for application is open until 16 August 2026.

Through a consortial funding scheme coordinated and administered by the Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries, CoDOA enables Swiss academic libraries and research funders to make funding decisions in line with their missions and to invest together in a more sustainable Diamond Open Access ecosystem. The funding is intended to help journals stabilise, improve and develop their publishing activities. 

Only journals following the eligibility criteria can apply. These include among others being free of charge for both authors and readers, at least one year of being Diamond OA and be embedded in Swiss research communities. The minimum funding amount is CHF 4'000/year, maximum funding amount is CHF 30'000/year. Successful journals receive funding for a three-year funding period.

Background

The CoDOA-CH project was an initiative of the Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries as leading house and ten partner institutions in Switzerland: École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, ETH Zurich, Geneva Graduate Institute, Lib4RI - The joint Library for the Research Institutes within the ETH Domain, University of Basel, Université de Fribourg, Université de Genève, University of Lucerne, Université de Neuchâtel, University of Zurich/Zentralbibliothek Zürich. CoDOA-CH was co-funded by swissuniversities (Programme Open Science II) and the partner institutions.
