Rules of RDM Bingo
The goal of RDM Bingo is to encourage you to clean up an existing project or start a new project using research data management and software best practices. Here's how it works:
- Get a board: Sign up using your 4RI institutional email (Eawag, Empa, PSI, WSL or SLF) to receive your 5×5 Bingo board. Each square represents a best-practice task you can complete.
-
Complete tasks: Click on a square to submit proof that you've completed the task. Each submission requires:
- A valid URL as proof — either a link to a specific recent (within the last month) commit on a git repository, or a public link to a screenshot uploaded to a file-sharing service (e.g. ownCloud, SWITCHdrive, Google Drive, etc.). NOTE: If you are working with sensitive data or a project covered by a NDA, please submit proof via a screenshot where possible, and, if not, please indicate the project reason in the description and add a URL to your group/project/your RI website or another location. If you are chosen as a winner, we will reach out about discussing your submission.
- A short description (minimum 3 words, maximum 1000 words) of what you did to complete the task.
- Get Bingo: Complete an entire row, column, or diagonal to score a Bingo! Once you complete your first Bingo, your win is submitted automatically to the public Winners page, and you can download a personalised winner badge to share.
- Click Keep Playing to keep filling squares: every additional bingo (a new completed row, column, or diagonal) counts as another entry, so 2x, 3x, 4x... all the way up to SUPER BINGO! for a fully completed board. The more lines you complete, the more chances you have to win. One winner from each 4RI institute (Eawag, Empa, PSI, WSL/SLF) will be picked to win a 100CHF Digitec gift card.
- Winners page: All winners are displayed publicly, with their institute affiliation (unless you've indicated you'd like to remain anonymous at signup), the time of their bingo, and how many lines they completed (e.g. “3x Bingo!”, or “SUPER BINGO!” for a fully completed board). Hovering over completed squares shows the description of what was done.
